DEVIANT SPECIES ( Trick Music (UK) / Ambivalent Records )
Santos De Castro from Basque Country. Initially a drummer, he moved to London in the late 80’s playing in rock, hip metal and industrial bands, including PIG. He switched to producing in the mid 90’s and in 1997 formed Deviant Species, pioneering a darker side of Psytrance. Santos founded Ambivalent Records with the release of the second Deviant Species album ‘The Quest for Balojax’ in 2001 which established the act as one of the luminaries of the genre. In 2004 his much anticipated third album ’In The Hands of the Randomiser’ was released to rave reviews the world over. Since then Santos has consistently released a string of high quality tracks as Deviant Species and also Squid Inc, his project with long time friend and collaborator Ady Connor (Scorb). A Deviant Species fourth album ‘Advent of The Blue Radula’ is set to be released in Trick Music in 2017 at Altered Forest 2017 in Quebec, Canada this coming August.
Noj Nor is the project of DJ Ron Jon an up and coming producer from Ottawa Canada. He has been producing since 2007 and made his first release on World People records. Ron Jon has been spinning psytrance since 2000. His sets have been described as high energy, deep and psychedelic. His highly influenced by the music he spins record labels such as Wildthings, Bom Shanka, Peak records, World People, Looney Moon and Parvati. He has been actively playing events in Canada and sending dance floors into complete madness. Earning a reputation as a highly sought after DJ with a powerful stage presence. He regularly played and helped organize a weekly night at a club called Mavericks and also at cafe Nostlagica before that. These nights respectively went for about two years each. This gave him the opportunity to hone his skills and play a variety of different styles of psytrance in order to find out which were the best fit for him. He prefers a more psychedelic non cheesy style of psytrance. His music sounds like a fusion of psytrance, full on and twilight. Blasting not too dark, uplifting, groovy and intelligent.
ZENTRIX Born and raised in the rainforests of Western Canada, Matt Zentrix was inducted into the global rave culture through tight knit gatherings in record shop basements and renegade forest parties. Cutting his teeth on acid techno and tech funk, he soon encountered the world of psychedelic trance and became mesmerized by the culture's dedication to crystal clear production and sonic experimentation. While staying grounded in the same energy that kept those first dance floors vibing until the early hours of the morning, Zentrix continues to push the story forward, always seeking out new sonic realms. With a sound that balances somewhere in the nexus realm between genres, both his Live and DJ sets are known for connecting the dots between a wide range of styles, while always pushing a higher level of production technique and creative experimentation.
Kraken is the ( morning progressive ) side project of R.K.Hanna a.k.a. - Monkey Machine ( retrodelic full-on ). After releasing 5 studio albums ( first 3 on Ektoplazm.com ) and 1 live album in the MM style, and developing a small international following. Kraken is a new approach to the musical diversity that the producer delightfully unveils… R.K.Hanna's musical background started at the age of 9, he has played in many live bands, has studied classical sitar, and he has been producing electronic music for over a decade. Expect to hear solid groovy bass, with morning melodic, yet psychedelic leads. Dance friendly musical phrasing, lush layering… and a twist of lime.

Classically trained on trumpet, this artist has been making music since he was able to get his fingers on the piano at the age of 4. Neill continued his journey through high-school and university, studying many genres including brass, jazz, funk ensemble and singing, to name a few: all while working towards his degree in music education at the University of Ottawa. It is this deep foundation that gives Neill a unique sound that is truly music to your ears.
Maxime Mourand is the name behind sTump. Born in 1990 in Montréal,Canada, Max started to produce his own music after several underground raves where he fell in love with dark techno and psytrance. Since then self-educated himself over many sleepless nights and always seeks to take his music to another level. His music combines dark, hypnotic, tech and psychedelic elements. sTump always produces with the intention of rocking the dancefloors. Expect heavy basslines and evil rhythm surrounded by dark atmospheres which will elevate you into a second state of mind. As a real stump, he remains rooted deep into the underground
Dark Dawn Psyllabus / Altered State Rhiannon fell in love with psytrance the first time she heard it in 2000. She didn't realize that others shared her taste and it wasn't until 2007 that she discovered the Ottawa psytrance community at Ritual Nights; she was hooked from that night forward. As Rhiannon enthusiasticaly danced the nights away, she marveled at the skills of the dj. Finally in 2014, she decided to try her hand behind the decks and was instantly supported by Psyllabus. In 2015, she played her first set at Psygrind, followed by Ritual Nights and then Altered State. PROTOCELL is the brand new progressive psy project of Bader Decipher and Neil Synthetik (Decipher and Synthetik). After many years of mind melting energetic gigs playing tag sets as DJ’s they have decided to combine their talents and experience. The Duo is currently based out of Montreal Canada but each come from different Canadian cities. As Dj’s the pair has spent the last few years playing all over Canada at many of the country’s premier Psychedelic trance parties and festivals, as well having shared the stage with many talented international live acts such as: Avalon, Atmos, BioGenisis, Materia and many more... Protocell works directly with North Americas one and only Psychedelic trance community center Studio Sundari (ww.studiosundari.com). With a combined 25 years experience behind the decks and in the studio the duo is prepared to blast you with complex mind bending audio environments to send you on a journey into new dimension
One of the first female psy-trance DJs in Canada, DJane LOngstOcking started spinning in 1999 at the weekly, all-female DJ night 'Chicks With Decks' in Ottawa, Canada. She founded Syzygy productions with DJ Aquarius; a sound, lighting & event co-ordination company, working with many organizers in Ottawa and Montreal. In 1999, Syzygy met Fluodelik and collaborated to produce many memorable events including the legendary Psychotrop parties. Since moving to Montreal in 2001, LOngstOcking is an ever-present force in the Quebec psychedelic scene. She is a long standing resident of such events as Eclipse Festival, Natura, Space Gathering, St Jean Basstiste & Open Mind, playing alongside many talented local and international artists. In 2006 she connected with the west coast of Canada in Vancouver, BC playing at several events including the long-running Organix psy-trance night. She has also participated in the Gaian Mind Festival in Maryland, USA. LOngstOcking continues to spread her wings of music playing most recently in Mexico in winter 2012, and connecting with the east coast of Canada in Nova Scotia, june 2013. A very versatile artist, known for her psychedelic melodic morning sets, funky psychedelic prog and her upbeat downtempo. LOngstOcking loves to flow with the vibe in her fun, energized sets that keep the trancefloor moving and grooving to higher states of being. ♫ music is bliss ♪
Odonata began her musical career in 2014 after having been involved in the psychedelic community for many years. With a unique approach to music, her style is one that stands out among partygoers in eastern Canada. Quickly establishing herself as someone with attention to detail and amazing taste, she is already being invited to share the decks with some of North Americas most amazing artists. She now co-hosts parties with Aioaska Productions (Montreal), bringing with her the funk and groove needed for the night.

Nicolas, aka Shango, is a real music lover. He love music as he love life and all. DJ SUPERSONIC Altered State Supersonic has pursued his affair with electronic music since the 1990s in Toronto (technologix), Sydney (Kalide), Ottawa (Alweezgrooven + Ritual Nights), and plenty of middles of nowhere: clubs, bars, warehouses, a ranch, studios, beaches, house parties, and barbeques with all kinds of good people. He digs techy psy sounds extra special, with something for your mind and something for your behind.
Tim Mancini, aka Data Decay is a, producer, dj, promoter and music enthusiast from Ottawa, Canada. Surrounded by music for much of his life, Tim began his own personal journey into sound as Data Decay in 1999, and has never looked back. This Psy addict has been fueling the Psytrance fire in Ottawa and beyond for well over a decade, Djing special events with world class artists of almost every genre and promoting his own psychedelic shows with a team of dedicated like minded people. He has put a lot of time into sculpting his vinyl and digital music collection into a full spectrum of psychedelic sounds. For him, it’s all about driving beats, ripping synths, floating atmospheric sounds and deep, hypnotic grooves. See you on the Trance Floor.
DJ Psyllium's deep and funky Progressive vibes will always get a dancefloor pumping. This, coupled with a Full-on Psytrance infactuation always makes for great song selection and groovy atmospheres for the psychonaut in need of release. Craig Macleod, a.k.a. DJ Psyllium, started living his life differently the first time he heard Psytrance 7 years ago. Completely addicted to the vibe, people and frequencies, he watched and learned from his great friends and Ottawa's best for three years before starting PSYLLABUS an event production company in 2013. Now, teamed up with veterans from the beginning of psy parties in Ottawa, the whole team brings a monthly event to our great capitol once a month called Altered State.
In 2012, Naut began spinning Dark Progressive Psychedelic trance as a crunchy, yet smooth medium to corrupt and enlighten the discos of the Ottawa region. Regularly spinning a variety of artists across the spectrum of the Dark progressive gernre of Psytrance, Naut uses a mixed bag of soundranging from the uplifting and Funky, to the Dark and Grimy. Record labels like Uroborous, Glitchy.Tonic.Records, Insonitus, Zenon, and Parasmonia are just a few of the soundscapes that regularly show up in his interesting, and often surprising DJ sets.
Kristian Warden aka Sporadix is a psytrance Dj based out of Ottawa, Ontario. Having had his first psytrance experience in 2007 he instantly found himself mesmerized by the sounds and complexity of the style and picked up Djing shortly afterwards in 2009. He quickly developed a love of the craft and discovered his natural talent for working a crowd. He is constantly in the process of honing and refining his craft and is always seeking out new and cutting edge sounds to add to his already extensive repertoire of psychedelic electronic music. Sporadix is known for his high energy performances with a sound that can be described as driving, hypnotic and very psychedelic with an affinity towards darker, atmospheric and otherworldly soundscapes. Always striving to provide his audiences with a unique dancefloor experience, his sets are sure to whip the crowd into a relentless, grooving frenzy.
Having gone to his first underground event back in 2003, he immediately fell in love with the rhythms of electronic music. After hearing psytrance for the first time it was hook, line, and sinker. Having enjoyed years of being an observer, he decided it was time to join the ranks.
All the way from outer space, Spaceship Manager arrives from the deep realms of the universe to bring you a sound of psychedelic trance unlike any other. This DJ brings you cutting edge sounds, flawless mixing and energy that is truly from another world.

OH NO IT’S RAINING!
We do have enclosed structures to keep everyone dry and plenty of tarps. Don’t be caught out in the cold, bring an extra pair of clothes, rain boots and at least 2 sweaters!
CAN I BRING MY ANIMAL?
Unfortunately not, only registered service animals will be allowed at Altered Forest. This is for the safety of our guests and the pets involved.
IS PARKING AVAILABLE?
Yes! There will be a short hike, however we will permit a few cars at a time to drop off your belongings at the main building inside the festival. Parking is $5 per car and $30 per RV or Motor home. Please contact us at email@example.com about reserving a spot for your RV or Motor home. First come first serve!
IS THERE ELECTRICITY?
Electricity is for staff use only. We do make some exceptions so contact an organizer if you need power. We do not guarantee power, and you should not expect it.
IS THERE DRINKABLE WATER THERE?
Bringing your own potable water is highly recommended. There is water on site but it’s generally not available for drinking. The lake water is clean but is not drinkable. The vendors will have drinks, including water but we don’t guarantee that water will always be available. Please also use biodegradable soap in the lake water to keep our lake as clean as possible.
WILL MY CELLPHONE WORK THERE?
Your cellphone will work from the road with intermittent service. At the site there’s no cell reception. Please plan ahead and prepare to disconnect!
I HEARD THERE’S A WALK/HIKE INVOLVED TO GET TO THE LAKE. IS THAT TRUE?
Yes. Your car can’t go any further than the parking areas – we need to keep the road clear for emergencies. The walk is about 10 minutes from the parking lot to the lake, but we will permit a drop off to the main lodge and return to the gate to ease load in and load out! This way you can spend your energy on having fun instead!
SHOULD I BRING FOOD?
If you’d like! There is a communal BBQ, please bring your own tank. There are controlled fires, however no personal open fires are permitted. Food is available to purchase but is not included with your admission. If you have any allergies, or are vegan/vegetarian, we encourage you to bring your own food since it is unlikely we will be able to accommodate every dietary restriction.
WHAT ABOUT PARKING & RV’s?
There are limited spaces for parking in the designated parking areas for cars and RV’s. Overflow will be on the road or path before the parking areas. Please keep your parking pass visible at all times on your front dash. You can purchase a parking pass in advance online or at the front gate. This will be dealt with on a first come first serve basis
Single car, van or small sized truck = $5
RVs and large recreational vehicles (please send us a message).

We take the environment and our venue seriously. We have an extensive recycling program aimed at the reduction of waste and propulsion of our artistic and cleanliness initiatives. When you arrive on site, everyone will be given one clear and one black garbage bag. You will also be given a butt can for your spent smokes. Please place all recycling and garbage in the bags you’ve been provided or in one our many designated bins. We even recycle cigarette buts, packs and filters. Please take the time to place the right item in the right bin and help us keep the site clean. There will also be a drop off point for any unwanted camping items or tools.
We reuse as much as we can! You’ll notice a lot of our art installations are made from recycled materials, so when you make the effort to recycle, we can create more amazing eye candy for this amazing and immersive experience.
